Description
Deck Shield Pro is a penetrating timber treatment designed to protect decking while helping to create a safer walking surface. The advanced water-based formula absorbs into the timber, providing protection from within rather than forming a coating on the surface. By reducing water absorption, Deck Shield Pro helps timber dry more quickly after rainfall and damp weather. As a result, conditions become less favourable for algae, mould, and other organic growth that can make decking slippery.
Benefits:
Unlike many anti-slip treatments, Deck Shield Pro helps improve grip without relying on abrasive additives or visible aggregates. This allows the decking to retain its natural appearance while benefiting from enhanced protection. Suitable for both new and existing timber decking, Deck Shield Pro helps extend the life of the wood, improve surface safety, and keep outdoor areas looking their best throughout the year. Application:Ensure that the surface to be treated is dry, clean, and free from any contaminants, including dust, dirt, oil, grease, algae, and mould. Any previous coatings need to be completely removed prior to application. Algae, moss, and spores must be removed and treated with a licensed biocide designed for this purpose.
All residues of the biocide need to be removed and allowed to dry before applying Deck Shield Pro. Use a pressure washer to remove the dirt and grime from the decking grooves.
Shake the container well before use.
Ensure the surface is thoroughly dry and clean before proceeding. Do not pour directly onto the surface. Apply a generous, even coat using a low-pressure spray, brush, or long pile roller. For older or more porous surfaces, once the first coat has started to sink in (within 30 minutes), apply a second wet coat, removing any heavy pooling as you go. Remove as much excess product as possible.
Leave to dry for 24 hours.
Top Tips:
Use a leaf blower to disperse any pooling of the product. If a sealer/coating exists, this will need to be removed completely before using Deck Seal Pro
PPE Required:
- Disposable gloves
- Eye protection
Coverage varies depending on the condition and age of the decking.
- New decking – 4-6m2 per litre
- Old decking – 2-4m2 per litre
