Carbon & Fire Damage - Slate

Our carbon and fire damage removal products are specifically formulated to tackle the challenges of cleaning slate surfaces affected by soot, pollution, and fire residue. For lighter soot marks, such as those from minor fires or smoke, a strong degreaser is often effective at lifting surface stains without impacting the natural texture of slate. These cleaners work to dissolve surface-level soot, restoring the stone’s original look and making them ideal for treating smaller areas or recent fire-related damage.

For deeper, more persistent carbon buildup due to prolonged pollution or extensive fire exposure, a more intensive cleaning method is needed. However, PureSeal advises against using acidic cleaners on slate, as the stone’s iron content—sometimes not visibly detectable—can react with acids, potentially causing rust or staining. Instead, our slate-safe solutions penetrate and lift tough deposits without compromising the stone’s structure or appearance. To ensure safe and effective application, always follow product guidelines closely and use recommended PPE.
