Carbon & Fire Damage - Polished/Honed Stone

Carbon and fire damage can often be effectively treated on polished and honed surfaces using strong, specially formulated cleaners. However, in severe cases, hydrofluoric acid may be necessary but should be applied exclusively to sandstone. Identifying the surface material is crucial, as hydrofluoric acid can cause irreversible damage to glazed or polished surfaces.

When using our stronger products, neutralising afterward may be required. For surfaces where hydrofluoric acid cannot be applied, or in cases of persistent staining, media abrasion may be the best solution. Always follow product instructions meticulously, conduct a test patch, and use appropriate PPE to ensure safe and effective results. This approach ensures thorough restoration while preserving the integrity of the surface.
